PANIKOS was formed back in the distant 1988—one big punk family, a generation of people who believed in the dream, in “the different,” in utopias, walking through everyday life with realism on the paths of freedom.
They spat in the face of proper social standards, conservatism, servility, and the submission of modern Greece, standing on their own feet beyond political factions and parties, self-organizing their needs.
Children of the ‘streets’ and squats, experimenting not only with sounds and music but also with the transformation of thought.
A tribute, first of all, to the beers we drank together, to the members who passed through this band, played-play and created with love for music the sound of PANIKOS. We laughed together, cried, traveled, danced, fought; they gave, with rage against the rotten, unfair, alienated, harsh modern society, pieces of themselves to shape the songs of PANIKOS.
So, for the record and archives, PANIKOS is… Nikos Giannakopoulos HELP (bass), Nikos Loukas (drums), Giorgos Loukas Destroyer (guitar), Christos Panther (vocals, guitar), Thanos Georgilas (bass, vocals), Kostas Prizas (drums), Giannis Gerakios Elmer (drums, backing vocals), Nikos Aedonis Karanikas (guitar, vocals), Lakis (drums), Michalis OZY (bass, guitar, backing vocals), Tartarus (bass, backing vocals), Xa (guitar), Alexis No More (bass), Tolaz (drums), Thanasis Arthur (bass), Christos Mpatarias (synthesizer), Stelakis (bass, backing vocals), Dimitris (vocals).
We do not list everyone who played with us in studios, concerts, recordings, and sat behind consoles. Nor those who carried guitars and amplifiers with us, who grabbed the microphones and screamed alongside us in squares, schools, parks, in every corner of Greece and Europe. All those behind the scenes who were never seen but played a significant role, who hosted us in their homes, communes, squats, who fed and nurtured us with both tangible and intangible sustenance.
For all those who left, for those who will come…
Brothers & sisters, we meet on the streets—the war continues!
